As a consequence of current COVID19 disruptions to training and the ability to travel, the following decisions have been made with regard to upcoming events. We understand there may be disappointment for some members, however decisions have been made with ALL members of the relevant community in mind.
2021 Secondary School Championships
The SSSNZ-sanctioned schools event for 2021 has been cancelled, however will be replaced with the New Zealand Virtual Youth Championships. This will take place over the weekend of October 30th and 31st; athletes will compete virtually from their own or a local gym. Current entrants to the Secondary School Championships have been transferred to the Virtual Youth Championships and all relevant information will be sent to registered athletes and coaches. For any enquiries please email firstname.lastname@example.org
2021 Oceania Online Competition
As a result of disruption to training and being unable to meet competition regulations of having all athletes competing out of the same venue, Weightlifting NZ will be unable to compete in this event. Please direct any questions to email@example.com
2021 Masters Championships
With ongoing disruption to facility access, many lifters will not be afforded adequate preparation to take part in this event in Mid-October as currently scheduled. As a result, the decision has been made to move the event. The 2021 Masters Championships will now be held immediately prior to the Junior and Senior Championships in Mount Maunganui in November. Organisers are excited to move this event into a stadium setting and more details will be circulated once available.
