IWF World Masters Updates

The organisers have just advised the following updates;
Importantly the competition times have changed – see below.
Weigh in 9.00am Adelaide - 11.30 our time
Comp 11.00 Adelaide - 1.30pm our time
NZ is 2.5 hours ahead
Contrary to the information provided on the “zoom testing” guidance from the IWF “this event is a blind date until all time zones finished the competition. The results will be published together with the link to watch after the end of each session by time zone.”

2021 World Masters Virtual Championships

The 2021 World Masters Championships are being hosted on-line from 26-29 May.
WNZ has selected 19 Masters athletes to compete in this event. The entry lists and time zones are attached.
Additional information for this event can be found in the Resources section, under High Performance.

North Island Championship Entries

Entries are open for the 2021 North Island Championships, hosted by Functional Strength Olympic.
Event detailsDates: July 3rd and 4th 2021Location: The Rec Room, FeildingAge Grades offered: Junior and SeniorEntries: Open now and close May 31stEntry Fee: $55 + $4 processing
Entry is available online at https://nic.liftleader.co.nz/
In order to enter this event athletes must hold a current WLNZ membership and have competed in at least one sanctioned event in 2021. As a Championship event eligible athletes have the opportunity to set New Zealand Youth, Junior, Senior and Masters records.

OWNZ Presnce At LiveFit Health and Fitness Festival

On Sunday April 11th, OWNZ attended the first LiveFit Festival as a feature partner. Attendees were taught about the sport and the Olympic lifts, and had the ability to attend technical workshops.
The day concluded with an invitational competition featuring a unique and fast-paced round-robin format. Some of New Zealand's top lifters, including Olympic hopefuls Megan Signal and Cameron McTaggart showcased the sport with an exciting display of big lifts. Following a points system, lifters were also competing for cash prizes. The afternoon ultimately belonged to the Junior Females, for whom the future looks very bright.

Please update your mail lists, address books, etc accordingly. NB: The "Contact Us" option on the OWNZ website sends to the new address. NZL Finish Third In OWF E-mail League

NZL finished in third place of the OWF E-mail League event which was conducted over 9 rounds. This event began during Covid and a number of NZL members contributed to the results over the course of the event. Congratulations to all whose lifts contributed to this result, and to Simon Kent (HPD) for co-ordinating this for OWNZ.
